What's a "mulled wine"?

  • It's the English equivalent no the more renown German "Glühwein", in Spanish also known as (we don't like the translation) "vino caliente" (hot wine).
    It's basically red wine (has to be a real good wine) marinated with different spices, citrics and sugar. It's commnonly consummed in Christmas, served hot and with a classic ginger biscuit.
    How top use Midgard Wine? Read below some of our suggestions.

Hot Wine

  • Let us briefly explain how to prepare a classic "Christmas wine" with Midgard Wine:

  •   Warm it up but do not bring it to the boil (around 60 Celsius degrees).
      Wet the exterior border of the glass in Midgard Wine and rub it over a dish with sugar (white or brown).
      Add half an orange slice and another of lemon.
      Opcionally, it can be addorned with a cinnamon stick and a star anise.
 

Cocktail

  • This is the way of preparing a delicious and cool cocktail with Midgard Wine:

  •    Take a large glass and add two or three ice cubes.
       Add half a slice of orange and apple, and a cucumber slice.
       Optionally, and to notably improve the presentation of the cocktail, add some fruits of the forest (strawberries, cramberries, raspberries, etc.).
       Add the same proportion of Midgard Wine and soda drink such as Sprite, 7Up or the like.
       Add a sprigg of mint and half a slice of lime on the border of the glass, and enjoy it!
 

Classic Cocktails

  • To make any cocktail which uses Red Vermouth use instead Midgard Wine: a soft and original tasty touch. Let's see a classic one: Manhattan Cocktail.

  •    Ingredients: 2 oz. Bourbon or Rye Whiskey, 1 oz. Midgard Wine, 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters.
       Stir all the ingredients (not shaken as James Bond prefers) with cracked ice.
       Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.
       Add orange peel wet in the cocktail and adorn the cocktail glass wit it.
       The perfect Manhattan Cocktail ready to be enjoyed!
 

For Cooking

  • You will find a lot of uses of Midgard Wine in the kitchen. Let us give you some suggestions:

  •    Marinade beef meat before oven or grill it.
       Add it to an oven or frying pan where you have roasted or fried beef to obtain a delicious gravy.
       Add half a glass of Midgard Wine to enrich the sauce of a meatballs casserole.
       You can also add half a glass of Midgard Wine when preparing homemade tomato sauce to give it an extraordinary taste.
       Use if generously to improve the flavour of any stew or beef casserole.
       In any recipe which needs red wine, use Midgard Wine instead to give a unique taste to your dishes.
